The History of the Evangelical Church

The term fundamentalist is coined in the 1920s around the same time as the scopes monkey trials. Evangelicals also go through kind of a repeat of history on this in the 20th century. The post World War II evangelical moment, they're really capitalizing on shifts that are happening in society. They didn't want to be seen as like we're just these people who are going to insist you obey a bunch of obscure strange rules.
