The tendency to have objectives first forces us into these hill climbers, right? And if we can relax that constraint and say, why don't we see what we can create without necessarily having an objective in mind, we can produce much more interesting things. Ken Stanley is an interesting guy in neuroevolution and also now in deep learning. He wrote a very cool book on open ended exploration. Why greatness cannot be planned.
