The Importance of Knowing Your Subject Matter
Photographing sport is like dancing. You dance anything that's moving fast after a little while. I think where it starts is knowing your subject. If you're a baseball photographer and there's a guy on first, where do you point your lens? At second. Why? Because the shot everybody wants is the sweeping tag at second when the guy tries to steal. Even your poo will stop you from getting airborne. So they lift their tail feathers. They fly. I start pressing on the shutter button. It does become a rhythm.
