Between 1950 and 1980, China experienced the most rapid sustained increase in life expectancy of any country in the world. Life expectancy increased from 35 in 1949 to 57 in 1957 and 68 in 1981. In 1952, China completed the land to the tiller - 700 million move of land was allocated to 300 million farmers. Public health system played a critical role in basically addressing the impact of a series of infectious diseases.
