In the 1980s or before, transaction fees were very high. You didn't want to try to be selling parts of your portfolio and paying lots of transaction fees. So dividends were the natural solution for that. We don't live in that world anymore. There is no decay there. In fact, there is much more growth in something that is not paying dividends.
