Effective Altruism
There's no single dominant or correct definition of effective altruism. The first is simply an emphasis on existential risk, the notion that the entire world could end at least one human life. A desire for a certain kind of clarity of decision can be found in classical utilitarianism. People ought to be able to see why you think investing in anti-malaria bed nets is better than say Cornell University.
