In Libet's famous experiments he wired people up with EEG which is a non-invasive kind of way of measuring electrical activity in the brain. He asked them to note the position of a dot as it went around in a oscilloscope very quickly. And then he asked them to move their hand when they wanted to and note when they felt the urge to movetheir hand. People's awareness of the urge tomove came later than the electrical activity in our brain called the readiness potential. So the brain seems to initiate movement before people are able to report that they have decided to initiated movement. For some people that would be evidence that moral responsibility either doesn't exist or else can't be reliant
