The reports came in that after the prophet died Malik expressed joy he rejoiced at hearing of the prophet's death and then he returned to zakat to the people whom he had collected it from. This appears to be an indication of rebellion of apostasy because first of all he was happy the prophet died, secondly he gave the zakat back to the people he collected it from essentially saying this doesn't belong to Abu Bakr this belongs to you.
