Is There a Power Dynamic With Pity?

I feel like people are condescending to me when they pity me. I could feel like compassion or I could feel empathy. The thing you've got to be careful about is that compassion and empathy may feel like pity to you. Sometimes with pity, there is a power dynamic with that emotion. It's the way that I feel, I feel condescended to.
