In the 18 hundreds, at the beginning of the industrial era, astrology was sometimes actively persecuted or attacked as a kind of fraud. It was explicitly banned in great britain and the united states in the 18 thirties. But none the less, later in the nineteenth century, the art started to regain some new prestige in a different way. And it was integrated into new theories, theories of science, like karl yung's psychology of architypes and the shadow self. The previous distinction that astrologers drawn between their science and kind of the occult arts of spiritual divination, that line broke down.
