"Futurity is not the same as the actual future science fiction writers always say they're not predicting what's going to actually happen and if you can see ways in which things are some things are predicted you can also see lots of ways that other things aren't so I mean you know people say that the tricoders they carry on Star Trek starting the 1960s are like cell phones before cell phones were invented kind of true," he says. "The main point is much more important for sending a society a galactic society which different races and species and ethnicities etc do get along but there are certain types of issues which result from consistent problems in human nature or whatever"
