The Importance of Having Children
I think it's important to say that the kids need this kind of nurture, supportive, extended family environment. I'm teaching a course at Berkeley called Cognitive Development for Computer Scientists. People are starting to realize they're really bumping up against the limits of the kinds of learning that machines have done so far. Every three-in-four-year-old can solve problems and learn things that you can't get a standard deep learning algorithm with enormous amounts of data.
