The Softness of the Witness
The violence in the poem is as important as the softness. One of my favorite sort of phrases is gray of gray wool undied robes, bristle-collar quiet. And then a witness's statement probably describing the victim, an Indian Gregory Peck. So it almost seems like these descriptions kind of emerge from this grayness.
