What's Left Out?
Most of the time, rhetorical speeches are about specifics. Socrates is always saying, no, no, don't just give me an example. I want to know what goodness is. That's exactly what you're not in the public square arguing rhetorically. And so often it's just left out. The discourse of the rhetorical speeches themselves are like one big anthemene where the scientific and theoretical stuff,. just for practical purposes, has to be left to the side.
