Thetis, the Mother of the Hero Achilles
Thetis has the most prominent role in mythology as the mother of the hero achilles. She's got various mythology associated with her, particularly the dipping of achilles into the river styk by his heel. The golden apple to the fairest was deposited by the goddess strife because she was not invited. This led to the judgment of paris between the goddesses, and thence to the trojan war where achilles would fight.
