The Importance of Personal Connection in Mathematics

Mathematicians especially brazim ones like me go to the author of a paper and say well I can't be bothered to read your paper explain it to me over coffee now. That's very helpful by the way yeah but somehow all those mysterious signals about the human being that I hadn't had before allow me to anyway It makes reading so much easier it's unbelievable. If I have no personal connection with with a piece of mathematics then I find it very difficult now when I say personal connection sometimes it can be through a book as well for example.
