The Pendulum Swing in Comic Book Storytelling

There was this trend in the 90s where comic book movies were such a joke. And now we're like, yes, we want to make Starro, a gigantic starfish, our main villain and suicide squad. In no other form of art will that happen except a comic book movie? That's where the strength is. I think that's a broader pendulum swing in humor in our country.
