The Importance of Shakespeare in the 19th Century

There's a sense in which these plays are as much about morality as history, aren't they? And what was, did Shakespeare have a consistent view or is he shifting and changing shape? Is there a shape changer all the time? I mean, I think the plays are about power and resistance and containment. They're about repetition. The classic thing for the late medieval period for us, motivation is something that's very difficult to recover.
