Catholicism and Dowsing

The practice of dowsing was common as a folk discipline in Europe for centuries. It was particularly popular in the 1600s both in France and in Germany. What really surprised me was just how many members of the clergy have been dowsers, including both priests and bishops. The authority to make pronounce those two issue if you will oracle to give counsel guides for God has to come through the proper priesthood chowels.
