Bitcoin Mining - Is There a Conflict?

For electronic payments, you have a conflict because people that want the gold luck properties are really focused on security and ability to self verify the transactions. And for mass retail use, you need something much cheaper and much larger, much more scalable. So, I think ultimately, we should be able to support both use cases just using different technology.
