Technology has a place in sports, especially when the lines aren't as fuzzy. But using fancy technology and tons of camera angles on things like the start of a race or what is a catch in football can end up being really disappointing to fans. So i think there's a couple of things we could do here. We could throw out the limit entirely, like just go back to the eye test to see who fall started. Some people could actually be better at spotting movement than other people. And if the call can't be overturned, just stick with the calling in the field.
At the 2022 World Athletics Championships, sprinter TyNia Gaither was disqualified for false starting ... after the gun went off. Officials said she started faster than humanly possible. How can that be?
