Carrier battle groups have been the dominant currency of naval power since 1943. Aircraft carriers give you long reach, it gives you eyeballs wherever you want those eyeballs to go and can hurt things hundreds of miles away. The question with aircraft carriers is not whether a country chooses to invest in them, but whether a country is capable of investing in them. And so that's why we see with the Indians and the Chinese and the Japanese and the British and the French all focusing their doctrine around these ships.
