The Importance of Effective Warm-Ups in Performance

If there's one thing that can divide a group of improvisers quickly, it's the subject of warm-ups. Some people hate them and don't want to do them. Some people love them and could happily warm-up for an hour before tackling a scene. How much warming up do really need to be good at improv and how much difference does it make to an ensemble if they don't warm up?
