High blood pressure is often called the silent killer because it doesn't show many symptoms. It's one of the leading risk factors for negative, down stream cartyvascular events like heard attacks and strokes. The researchers randomized 52 barber shops in los angeles county. Blood pressure testing was set up but at half of them, the barbers encouraged customers with high blood pressure to meet with pharmasis right on sight who could prescribe medication. In the other half, theBarbers encouraged life style changes and doctors visits, but there were no pharmasis on sight.
