The Battle of Tardovishte
On June 17th of 1462, Mehmed's army had come close to Tardovishte and encamped for the night. As the pitch-black Valakian night fell, Vlad and thousands of troops poured into the camp in a surprise attack. This was a desperate gamble, a last ditch attempt to repel the Ottomans before they completely took Valakian. It didn't succeed, even in the most generous telling. According to a source that probably originates from the Valakians, maybe Vlad himself, they killed thousands of Turks and nearly captured Mehmed himself.
