The Impact of Local Content Requirements on EVs

In China, there are more than a hundred different models of electric cars on the market. Many Western companies were not interested in selling those EVs in China at first because they would have to change their supplier base and share IP with Chinese firms. But that has now been removed as part of recent government policy changes. This is why we see huge emergence of domestic Chinese firms and very small presence of foreign firms there.
