Belle Boyd was sent away to Mount Washington, a female college in Baltimore. The school had just opened two years prior to Belle's arrival and it advertised all the brand new amenities for your daughters. At the end of her four years in 1860, Belle graduated from Mount Washington. For about a year she did what any young unmarried lady who has come out in society and is in want of a husband does. There were social calls and teas and dances and strolls. She was known for her horse, women ship, but she was also known for her flirting.
