I never set out to be a war reporter like many of my Ukrainian colleagues or people who were based here as foreign correspondence. I think those first moments were terrifying in a way that I'd never experienced fear and terror before, just because there was so much uncertainty. We really didn't know. Many of us thought that there was a good chance of Russians just storming down the streets in crematorks or that in rushing back to Kiev, we would find the city occupied.
