Russia is suffering heavy losses of military equipment that will be difficult to replace, especially when they require sophistic technology. Western leaders should recognize that economic sanctions simply will not work in a time frame that makes any sense. Freeing up the blockade around odessa would be a huge economic wind for ukraine and a shattering symbolic defeat for russia. Troops in ukraine will find it much harder to dislodge russians once the snow blankets the land.
