The Importance of Philosophy in Film
I'm not arguing that all films have something to say to philosophers. What I am saying is that even the most unpromising domains of the world of film might nevertheless have something of philosophical interest. It's not part of my position to argue that there are certain kinds of philosophical positions that could only conceivably find cinematic expression. That strikes me as a wildly implausible idea. So the fact that I can state or restate some of these ideas in the form of a much more familiar kind of philosophical disposition just seems to me to be exactly what you would expect.
