The History of Bareville, Australia
In 19 90, bareville was home to about 150 indigenous residents. Most of them lived around an area known as the mish along a street then called cemetery road - now renamed gumbanga road. The mish was a row of houses on the outskirts of town, away from the genteel looking buildings that were so attractive to tourists. During australia's civil rights movement in the 19 sixties, activist charles perkins led a freedom bassrade through bareville to protest discrimination against first nation's peoples.
