The Importance of Volunteering

The first black to work for the Attorney General in Denver. At my office right there in the Capitol building. So every time I went to Mattichine, I was as scared as a rest of them. See, regardless of my gainness, I was still somebody. Did they ever ask illegal questions? They would ask me, sometimes I'd volunteer. Once in a while, I'd volunteer a little legal information. But to be, I was not hired or paid consultant. Just to volunteer, everything was volunteer back in those days.
