What Does Science Fiction Allow You to Do That Other Methods Don't?

Melka: I think it's a really powerful way of understanding what happens in science fiction. We are products of our time and we are producing stuff that's tightly linked to the concerns and hopes of our time. It doesn't necessarily have to be huge to change the world, but I sometimes still kind of yearn for doing things more directly. To look at what is possible, what that could be, we really do need to step back and use our imaginations.
