The Challenge to the Reliability of the Senses
Dick Card argued that the senses are notoriously unreliable. He entertained skeptical arguments in order to get to something which he thought was the bedrock on which he could build his edifice of knowledge. The fact that I'm sometimes wrong on the basis of the senses doesn't by itself show that I can never rely on them, but there are considerations that seem to bring into doubt the possibility of relying on them.
