The Importance of Genius in Science

According to Lee, if you make it to the top echelon of your profession, then by definition, you are the genius of that profession. Emmanuel Kant would very much resist that interpretation because for him, as for Leibowitz, genius is inherently artistic. And so in a way, the genius is like the high school rebel who doesn't play by the rules. So somebody like Einstein might be able to innovate, but they cannot make new rules for mathematics.
