If people are heavily heavily insured they don't care much about price and so producers will jack up their prices knowing that they can get away with it insurance companies aren't very good at negotiating prices not as good as consumers are. 90 cents out of every dollar is coming from someone other than the patient for medical goods and services in the United States, according to a recent study.
