"I encourage other founders to do the same thing," Palmer says. "The people who care about you and support you in particular, they need to be able to hear from you directly." The last president of the United States was also a fan of direct communication; he said it's good way to get your side out without being mediated by somebody who doesn't necessarily have your best interests at heart.
