The Golden Calf

Moses, the man who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what's become of him. So I think that's where they see the calf as replacing Moses. And then when Yahweh later reintroduces Moses, he uses the same language that the people use here to say these are your gods. There really is that sort of linguistic connection where he's like, nope, actually Moses is God. He's the one that brought you out of Egypt.
