The most active propagandist was without question Andreas Harard, the publisher of St. Pierre's newspaper, La Colonnés. He published a nearly non-stop barrage of articles reminding its readership to vote on Sunday and minimizing the threat of the roaring volcano in the distance. On May 7th, when the clouds and debris were so thick that Captain LeBeouf was willing to risk kidnapping charges to get away, Harard devoted the front page of his paper to endorsing clerk Fernand Clerk. The only person in this story who for sure wasn't affected by the prospect of the election was Fernand Clerk - but he failed to win people over to leaving with him.
