The Effect of Social Exclusion on Radicalization
Researchers found that just small acts of social exclusion can have this accelerating, almost exponential effect on the radicalization. Once someone feels excluded from this kind of broader identity, they're going to double down on the other identity - especially if that other identity sees itself ascending in opposition to the very group that just excluded you. And so we wanted to explore that in the context of sacred values. We did over 800 surveys between two different communities and were able to whittle down some people who we knew we wanted to brain scan.
