There are a handful of very small world state changes that happen in Breath of the Wild. They generally revolve around this fake Ganondorf puppet Zelda that you discover has been causing various levels of mischief, but then also evil around Hyrule. One of them is triggered after you do a very specific quest with pen where you find out that the Yiga Clan can also disguise themselves as Zelda. After that happens, you can go up to the Great Plateau and at the fire where the old man meets you in Breath Of The Wild, Zelda is standing there.
