The Problem With Beta-Amyloid in Alzheimer's Disease
beta-amyloid is a small protein that is found in the brain of people who have Alzheimer's disease. When it clumps up, it becomes toxic to brain cells and kills brain cells. Weaver: Pharmaceutical manufacturers have spent billions on compounds that can get rid of beta-amyloid. He says they just don't work at occurring the disease.
