The Bill of Rights Bill Revises and Replaces the Human Rights Act 1998
Jim Angus, Shimeem Shaikh and Sipita Gross discuss the Bill of Rights. They explain how it will change UK law as we've known it up until now. The key provisions are that it introduces what may be termed a conscious uncoupling of domestic convention case law from that of the Strasbourg case law. Clause four requires the giving of great weight to the importance of freedom of speech in the determination of cases engaging article 10. clause 24 expressly requires a court to take no account of an interim measure issued by the Strasbourg court.
