"This book is a bear. It's at times I kid you not," Graham Greene says of Ulysses. "You have to read with your mind kind of blank or else you literally cannot get through the text." There are parts of it that are just flatly incomprehensible, but there are other parts that can be comprehended in some way. Joyce wrote this book to be something that someone could spend a lifetime doing analysis of - Greene.
