Sociologist Max Weber is widely considered one of the fathers of modern social science. His best known work, he wrote about the Protestant ethic and the spirit of capitalism. He never had an academic position in capitalist sociology as such. The other bubble that I wanted to burst while writing about Weber was a cliche of Northern European hardworkingness and Southern European laziness.
