Thomas malthus wrote a book in 17 98 called the essay on the principle of population. He was trying to explain why living standards didn't seem to have risen very dramatically for thousands and thousands of years. His second idea was that nature disciplines humans. If we tend to have larger pop sons living more densely via epidemics and via famines. So, i mean, the epidemic is quite topical in terms of cobid and of course, the famine.
