Rousseau says if we hadn't built buildings that were for three, four stories high, maybe no one would have died in the Lisbon earthquake. This is Rousseau's point. I think stoicism doesn't acknowledge enough the way in which it's our structures who make bad things happen. And like a lot of the classic strokes, like also believed in like civic engagement and family engagement as important, important values.
