The Cost of Living in a City

In traditional Chinese cities, people in the neighbors were both social control and cared for each other. Now they're pushed into 40-story high rises where no one knows anyone. And then when you go into the field outside the park, there's nobody because there's nothing to do. So a few people know who you are and you can get away with a lot more. That's a big factor in the crime increase that you see with modernisation of cities.
