The Importance of Communicating With the Public

I started with rotavirus and then moved to polioviruses because we knew that global eradication was a goal of the World Health Organization. I thought, what can be better than creating vaccines against viruses and preventing all of these diseases and kids and adults? So I thought CDC was a great place to work. These are true believers. They really want to improve health in the US. And so that's where I learned at the very beginning of my career to try to boil things down to the simple concepts. Where is this coming from? Why is it happening? How do I talk to people locally?
