Not every kind of rock will hold a fossil for a variety of reasons. You can have rocks that are metamorphic, that are squeezed around on their high pressures and sometimes at very high temperatures. Furthermore, you may have places in the world where the creatures didn't live. And here, we're building on all kinds of science projects that have been done over the last 100 years.
